I laughed, I cried. The trite saying that's been used to describe movies for years. But truly the old saying applies completely to, "I am Sam." It's the best movie ever, hands down, no question. I was so extremely touched by this movie. I laughed hysterically and cried like a little blubbering baby. The movie is about a man named Sam, who has the mental capacity of a seven year-old. Sam has a child with a homeless woman, who after giving birth to the child leaves Sam with the child at a bus stop. Sam has a hard enough time taking care himself let alone a new born. The child grows up a very happy child with Sam but quickly becomes more intelligent than him. The social services people intervene and all kinds of sad stuff happens. But the movie is full of non-stop laughs the whole time as we get a glimpse into Sam's innocence and immense love. I'm almost crying thinking about that movie right now. Sam is the shit. He has a group of mentally retarded friends who are absolutely hilarious, they'll make you cry though too. Also the whole movie has a Beatles theme which is really cool. Sam's always talking about Beatles, his daughter's name is Lucy(Lucy in the Sky With Diamonds), and Sam's lawyer's name is Rita(Lovely Rita Meter Maid). Well I've decided I don't really like to write reviews, because I want to spill the beans on the movie and for me it's hard to write without doing so. But the bottom line; you must see this movie before you die, so rent it tonight, you might die tomorrow.
